The warmest XT-6 so far at Noble Store

The Salomon XT-6 Black Coffee / Burro / Bitter Chocolate is the second XT-6 colorway to arrive at Noble Store and immediately the most seasonal of the two. Where the Vanilla Ice / Black / Silver Cloud was cool and high-contrast, the Black Coffee goes in all directions on the warm spectrum. Three colors that each take their own position on the shoe, but together form a whole that leans closer to autumn clothing than to an average trail runner.

Black Coffee, Burro, Bitter Chocolate: a colorway that lives up to its name

The naming of this XT-6 is no coincidence. Black Coffee is the darkest element: an almost black shade of brown in the mesh upper that forms the base. Burro, named after the warm, sand-colored fur of a donkey, is in the Sensifit overlays that define the silhouette of the XT-6. Those overlays are the most striking visual elements of the model and they carry the Burro shade in a way that gives the shoe warmth and depth. Bitter Chocolate finally is in the accents: rich brown, darker than the Burro overlays but warmer than the Black Coffee base. Three earthy shades, each with its own function in the construction of the colorway.

The result is an XT-6 that is less loud than many other colorways of the model but precisely because of that is easier to wear. The aggressive Contagrip sole and the layered Sensifit silhouette are still there, but the color lets them speak for themselves without adding extra volume. White on the midsole keeps the shoe light enough not to sink into dark outfits. The colored lace closure, blue, yellow and red on the loops, is the only reference to the sporty and colorful XT-6 world that you expect from the outside but here has been deliberately kept subdued.

The XT-6 as a lifestyle runner: why this colorway works

The Salomon XT-6 is a trail runner that has made the transition to streetwear without denying its technical origins. The QuickLace, the Sensifit construction and the Contagrip sole are all still present and functional. But it is the visual mass of the model, the layered silhouette with the characteristic side overlays and the robust sole stack, that makes it interesting as a lifestyle sneaker.

The Black Coffee colorway plays nicely on that. Dark earthy shades combine broadly: under a beige or camel jacket, the Burro overlay works as an echo. Under black or dark gray clothing, the Black Coffee base calms the shoe down. And the Bitter Chocolate accents give enough color depth to keep the shoe interesting without it taking over the work of the outfit.
